For an inexpensive small-town local museum it's not bad at all and worth spending a couple of hours looking around. Good coverage of the Civil War, it explained a lot about what went on, who the peo…Full review by Joe C

The museum is small and the staff unfortunately not very informed about certain aspects of the period’s equipment . The civil war video was excellent and some of the exhibits are interesting albeit n…Full review by Alastair B

Very interesting 2 hour visit to the Civil War Centre, which provides a fascinating series of galleries on the 17th Century Civil Wars, whilst also focusing on the 3 sieges affecting Newark. A well b…Full review by Russell D

Hi Mark, Assistance dogs are always welcome to the Centre, and all dogs are welcome to our entrance (which services as the Visitor Information Centre). However, we're unable to let other dogs tour the museum for conservation issues with many of the objects. As a felow dog lover, I'm sorry for this, but I hope this doesn't stop yourselves from visiting the Centre some time soon. Please get in touch if there are any further questions I can help you with. All the best, Mark
Is it suitable for a five year old? And what is the entrance fee.

Hi Catherine Adults £8, Children over 5, £3.50, under 5 free. This ticket enables you to go in and out all day. I would say that it is suitable for a 5 year old. There are things such as dressing up and craft (making flags), though this may change. The talk given by the actor requires the audience to sit and listen and the current exhibition on surgery would definitely be too gruesome. The gallery has some interactive stuff. It depends really, I'd definitely say not suitable fir under 5. Hope that helps

Hi Joanna D, Whilst we don't have any parking at the Centre, there is ample short and long-stay parking nearby. I've included a link below. Appletongate is close, and recommended for wheelchair users. We do advise the Riverside Carpark, however, as it is much cheaper, but also gives you a nice walk into town, past the castle, medieval church and historic market square--kicking your visit to Newark off in historic style! newark-sherwooddc . gov .uk / carparks / carparks Our own costs and opening hours can be found on our website (link provided) nationalcivilwarcentre . com / visitus / openingtimesandprices Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, do get back to me. All the best, Mark

Hi Rosanna, We don't have a cafe... at the moment! We’re merging with the Palace Theatre (next door) at the end of this year. This will create a brand new space, integrating the two buildings’ offer. This vision includes a Café which has been tendered for, and promises fantastic cakes—I hope you approve! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! Mark
