Hello and thank you for your question regarding about Pioneer (Group) camps at Smithgall Woods State Park. We have two Pioneer camps and they are very different. Fish Camp is our most popular. You are allowed to drive to Fish Camp (separate entrance that than the main Visitor Center) and come and go as you please. There is power and flushing toilets. At Bear Ridge, your are allowed to drive to camp, but must remain there (unless of an emergency) during the length of your stay because it is within the conservation area. It is more primitive. Please call the park at 706-878-3087 for more information. Our front desk can also send you a form with more information.

Hi Elizabeth, You should call the office for their solid information. There is normally a road that acts as a trail that leads to other trails. I think that is the road that washed out in flooding spring 2018. However, there is also a short trail right near the visitor's center that would be nice to walk and seems accessible to me. But give them a call before you go to be sure. Good luck, Donna
Q:
open n Mondays?
