Hi, we are 5 friends, staying at Lake Bled for 2 days/2 night. First day we plan to visit lake Bled and relax around the area. Next day we plan an early morning trip to Lake Bohinj (like taking a bus at around 7 AM) and spend the entire day (till 6 PM bus back to Bled). My questions are related to the day we spend in and around Lake Bohinj: 1. What are some of the things we must do at and around Bohinj? 2. I am really fascinated by the idea of hiking/walking around Julian Alps early in the morning, I don't know how far is the Bohinj lake from any good treks, can you suggest a trail? Also when we reach by bus from Bled, how far do we get dropped from this trail? 3. We then plan to come to Lake Bohinj for a swim followed by lunch and drinks...are there places near the lake to eat and drink? Is it allowed to swim in the lake considering we are traveling in Oct? If swimming is not allowed then we might first visit the lake and then explore the trek/trail around villages/Julian Alps. 4. So my plan has explorating a trail or trekking option to or via village (Bohinjska Bistrica may be), a walk around, and a swim in Lake Bohinj followed by a relaxing lunch as close to the lake as possible. Is it doable or am I dreaming?

Huh, how many questions! :) I’ll try my best! 1. for sure you should go see Savica waterfall. It is really nice to walk around beautiful Ribcev laz. You could go on Vogel also by cable cars. 2. There are many trails and right when you drop of the bus but you don’t have enough time to do it but I’ll give you suggestion later. 3. it is allowed to swim in the lake but it is probably pretty cold. Yes, there are many places to eat and I would suggest you restaurant right before Savica waterfall and there is also a nice and short and beautiful trail to waterfall. 4. Great idea, perfect place to do it! You can walk all around lake and I would suggest you also Mostnica gorge which ends with great place for eat also. So, for me - Bled is nice place but more urban. I prefer nature so our trip was - more time by the Bohinj lake and less time by Bled lake. But! There is also beautiful Vintgar gorge close to Bled lake which is beautiful! One more thing - I would suggest you, if you like fish for meal - trout is just perfect there!!! I hope I helped you! You will enjoy it for sure! Best, Nino!
Hi - we went to beautiful Lake Bohinj earlier this month while we were on a coach tour of Croatia & Slovenia so everything was done for us. we are planning a trip with our kids in June 2019 and we will be driving from Ljubljana. Can anyone advise on the parking situation? We would likely stay a full day - I read a review of someone’s horrible experience with a parking ticket which we would obviously want to avoid. Also, if we want to go on the electric boat, should we get tickets in advance? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Hi At both ends of the lake there is paid parking for all day. This changes for the summer. In June likely to be €1.50 an hour. Roadside parking along the lake is a risk. I was parked just off the road in Ukanc for an hour when I got the parking ticket. You can park free up near the cable car station as long as you like. That's at the far end of the lake and a left turn as you enter Ukanc. Just a short walk down to the lake.
