General Motors is officially approved to be an engine supplier in Formula 1. But the company’s power units won’t be in an F1 race for quite some time. The FIA announced Wednesday that GM’s bid to provide power to the new Cadillac team had gotten the go-ahead.

Formula 1's governing body says it has approved General Motors' plans to supply engines for the new Cadillac team from 2029.

The target is a year later than initially planned, so Cadillac F1 will run with Ferrari engines for three years, rather than two.
