Egg Company is recalling 1,700,000 dozen organic and cage free brown eggs, because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.
August Egg Company of Hilmar is recalling 1,700,000 dozen brown cage-free and brown certified organic eggs for potential salmonella risk. The eggs were distributed over the last four months, some with sell by dates as late as June 19, according to the recall notice from the Food and Drug Administration.
In a June news release, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration revealed that "brown cage-free and brown certified organic eggs" from the August Egg Company have "the potential" to be contaminated with salmonella.
Egg Company has issued a recall on Friday for 1,700,000 brown cage-free and certified organic brown eggs due to potential fears of salmonella. Newsweek reached out to the company after hours via phone Friday night for comment.
