Five campers and one counselor from Camp Mystic remain unaccounted for as local officials face mounting questions over who was responsible for issuing emergency alerts.

As the floodwaters rushed into Kerrville, Texas, under the cover of darkness on Friday morning, officers jumped into action to evacuate over 100 homes and rescue more than 200 people in one hour, the police department said.

Despite officials urging civilians to stay away, volunteers have joined the search for missing people and the cleanup on the Guadalupe River.
