A humpback whale has got into difficulty after becoming entangled in rope at a fish farm off Skye. Organic Sea Harvest said it had suspended normal operations at its Invertote site in the north of the island. British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) said it was alerted to the incident at 08:30 and had mobilised a team of volunteers.

Rescuers have freed a whale that became entangled in a rope at a fish farm off the Isle of Skye. A member of the public spotted the humpback in difficulty at the Invertote salmon farm and contacted British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) at around 8.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) sent members from across the UK after the alarm was raised on Thursday.
