The White House says Israel has accepted a new U.S. proposal for a temporary ceasefire with Hamas. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday said special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump submitted a ceasefire proposal that Israel has "backed and supported.
He was the younger brother of Yahya Sinwar, the former Hamas leader killed by Israel last year. Hamas did not immediately respond to the claim of his death.
Hamas leaders said they were reviewing a ceasefire deal proposed by the Trump administration that had already received Israel's stamp of approval.
The Israeli military said on Saturday it killed Mohammad Sinwar, Hamas' Gaza chief on May 13, confirming what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier this week.
