Winter weather alerts were prompted in some 14 states on Monday as meteorologists warned of heavy snowfall and winds gusting up to 100 miles per hour in some areas. The warnings, which covered a swath of the country stretching from California to Minnesota,
Utah is expecting one more round of snow starting Monday night, which could reach as far down as the valley floor. In anticipation of the incoming winter storm, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory which begins at 6 p.m. on Monday and is expected to last into Tuesday and Wednesday night, depending on location.
The National Weather Service in Duluth issued a winter storm warning from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 1 p.m. Wednesday for Cass, Crow Wing, Aitkin, Wadena, Todd, Morrison and Mille Lacs counties and all of northeast Minnesota to the border and through the Arrowhead.
The spring storm across western and central Minnesota will continue into early Thursday. The heaviest snow in the region is expected to fall in the Douglas, Pope and Stevens counties.
The National Weather Service has a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for counties including Stearns, Benton and Sherburne. It will be in effect until 1:00 a.m. on Thursday., Mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations up to 4 inches and ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch from sleet and freezing rain.
