St. Vincent, Joan Jett and Kim Gordon joined Pat Smear and original Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic onstage for a reunion of sorts at FireAid Thursday. Violet, Jett, and Gordon each subbed in for the late Kurt Cobain.

Nirvana staged a surprise reunion at the FireAid benefit concert in L.A. last night (January 30) with the band's surviving members joined by a series of guest vocalists.

The surviving members of Nirvana reunited at FireAid, rocking through four of the grunge giant’s classic tracks. The unannounced performance marked Dave Grohl ’s return to the stage following public acknowledgement in September that he fathered a child out of wedlock.

The five-hour fundraising extravaganza also featured performances from California natives such as Katy Perry, Dr Dre and Billie Eilish, while people who lost homes and relatives shared their stories.
