Santa Ana continues to see protests against a recent spate of federal immigration crackdowns as residents grapple with deportation fears.

Federal immigration officials appeared to target day laborers in raids Monday at a Home Deport in Santa Ana, leaders in Orange County said.

Congressman Lou Correa said a stronger military presence could show up in Santa Ana after the California National Guard was deployed near the federal building and the Ronald Reagan Courthouse downtown.

At least 10 people were arrested after a protest against immigration raids in Orange County Monday turned chaotic and led to police declaring an unlawful assembly.

It’s estimated that eleven demonstrators were arrested following Monday’s protest in Downtown Santa Ana. Hundreds gathered in Downtown Santa Ana on Monday to protest the presence of ICE, following an increase in arrests and sightings in the city.

Rep. Lou Correa, D-Santa Ana, was back in Orange County on Tuesday to denounce immigration enforcement operations unfolding across the region, calling the raids “counterproductive” and warning they were causing fear and instability in communities he represents.

Congressman Lou Correa, who represents Santa Ana, Fullerton, Anaheim and other parts of Orange County, said during a news conference that “everything was fine” until the federal government entered his community on Monday.
