For two nights this weekend, the Savannah Bananas brought their unique brand of baseball to Chicago for the first time. And fans at Rate Field got their money’s worth.

The world-famous Savannah Bananas will be playing in Chicago for the first time ever this week as part of their massive U.S. tour.

A pair of Chicago White Sox superfans got the ultimate sporting ceremony as they tied the knot during a home-game wedding — officiated by White Sox great Ron Kittle — on Aug. 9.

Then came Paul Konerko, the longtime captain of the White Sox and six-time All-Star. Konerko, whose No. 14 hangs retired at Guaranteed Rate Field, received a thunderous ovation as he stepped to the plate.

The Chicago White Sox will play in a newly renamed ballpark beginning in 2025. Guaranteed Rate Field is now Rate Field, the team announced Tuesday. The change reflects the sponsor's name change.
