Games of Thrones vet Sean Bean has officially signed on to join the Robin Hood cast for MGM+‘s upcoming series adaptation of the classic English tale. This marks Bean’s latest TV project, since starring in the final season of Snowpiercer last year.

Sean Bean (Snowpiercer, Game of Thrones) will play the Sheriff of Nottingham in MGM+’s series reimagining of the classic tale, our sister site Deadline reports. As previously announced, Australian newcomer Jack Patten will portray the titular role in Robin Hood,

Bean is best known for his roles in films like “The Lord of the Rings,” “Troy,” “Goldeneye,” and “Ronin.” He also famously starred in the first season of “Game of Thrones” as Ned Stark and has also been in shows such as “Accused,” “Broken,” “Henry VIII,” and “Legends.” He is repped by Independent Talent in the UK, Verve in the US, and Prosper PR.

Interestingly, his casting comes just shortly after news emerged that another Robin Hood project has just started production – with Jodie Comer and Hugh Jackman both set to star
