Even though suspended Magisterial District Judge Sonya McKnight was found guilty Wednesday of trying to kill her ex-boyfriend, she isn’t automatically forced off the bench. As an elected official, there are procedures under law that must be followed to remove her.

Sonya McKnight was taken away in handcuffs after the trial judge rejected a defense request that she be released. She faces up to 60 years in prison.
