Cubs trade deadline acquisition Michael Soroka headed to IL with shoulder discomfort after just two innings
The Chicago Cubs are already down their trade deadline rotation upgrade. Right-hander Michael Soroka, who came over from the Washington Nationals in a three-player trade last week, exited Monday's game ( CIN 3, CHC 2) with shoulder discomfort and is headed to the injured list. Soroka was two innings into his first start with the Cubs.
The Cubs needed rotation help, and while Soroka isn't a top-end starter, he's an upgrade for the backend of their rotation.
The Chicago Cubs (65-46) will host the Cincinnati Reds (58-54), Monday at 8:05 p.m. ET, in a matchup of NL Central rivals.
