For Florida residents, a trip to the Caribbean or The Bahamas is a quick getaway. If you're planning a trip soon, be aware of travel warnings to several nearby locations recently issued by the U.S. State Department. The State Department has issued a Level II travel warning because of an increase in crime in The Bahamas.

“Most crime occurs in Nassau and Freeport on New Providence and Grand Bahama islands,” reads a portion of the advisory. “Stay alert in the ‘Over the Hill’ area in Nassau, south of Shirley Street, where gangs have killed residents.”
