Wall Street climbed Wednesday after President Donald Trump reached a trade deal with Japan and hopes rose for more agreements by August 1.

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a flurry of trade deals that will relieve some pressure on companies and consumers from sharply higher tariffs on imports from Japan and a handful of other Asian countries.

He is raising tariffs on some of America’s most important trading partners, and the world is largely cheering the agreements as victories.

India and the Maldives are in discussions to negotiate a free trade agreement and an investment treaty, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told reporters on Tuesday.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has vowed to remain in power to oversee the implementation of a new Japan-U.S. tariff agreement.

India on Tuesday submitted the ratification document of the free trade agreement with the four-European nation bloc EFTA to Norway.
