ARLINGTON, Texas — The White Sox acquired right-handed starter Aaron Civale and cash from the Brewers on Friday for first baseman Andrew Vaughn. General manager Chris Getz said the organization had been doing a status check on Civale after learning that he had requested a trade from the Brewers.

One day after Aaron Civale requested a trade, the Milwaukee Brewers obliged and shipped the right-hander to the Chicago White Sox on Friday. In exchange for Civale and cash considerations, the White Sox sent veteran first baseman Andrew Vaughn to the Brewers.

Rate Field will be packed on Saturday, but not to see the White Sox play ball. Instead the crowd will be watching a message from Pope XIV, as Chicago celebrates the new pontiff. The Archdiocese of Chicago is putting on the event,
