Although land art is found all over the world, it’s most often associated with the Western U.S., in works like Spiral Jetty in the Great Salt Lake and The Lighting Field in New Mexico.

A sense of adventure powered the American land art movement of the 1960s and 70s. Artists went in search of remote and untamed places in which to dream up massive site-specific sculptures.
