Milton Batiste of the Olympia Brass Band, and Russell Batiste Jr. At the age of 8, Jon played percussion and drums with his brothers in the Batiste Brothers Band, co-founded by his father.

He also co-founded the Batiste Brothers Band, an ensemble of seven brothers who dabbled in genres from funk to R&B, which Jon also played percussion and drums for when he was only 8 years old.
