The U.S. Treasury released the first coin in its American Women Quarters Program, which features poet Maya Angelou. It's the first time the image of a Black woman has been on a U.S. quarter.

“This coin will ensure generations of Americans learn about Maya Angelou’s books and poetry that spoke to the lived experience of Black women,” said Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto.
