The buck converter is the most common power supply topology and power engineers are well versed in its strengths and weakness. One of the challenges in any power system design is the current sensing.
Fig. 1, on page 60, shows a buck converter with the inductor current sensing circuit, where L is the inductance and R L is the inductor's dc resistance.
