Madison, Wis., police chief Shon Barnes, who guided his community and the nation through the aftermath of a deadly school shooting, will be coming to Seattle as its new chief of police.

Barnes' appointment comes after previous Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz was fired for allegedly lying about having an affair with a staff member. Barnes has been Madison's police chief since 2021.
