A playground built a few feet below deadly 132,000-volt overhead power cables has been sealed off after little children screamed that they had been 'jolted' by electric shocks.
Before they were taken away, the swings were directly underneath a power line carrying up to 132,000 volts. The mains in a typical household is around 240 volts.
As of this month, however, the remains have been repurposed into a colorful (and free) playground featuring swings, car tires, a zip line, and plenty of climbing structures.
Anna, now 26, has cognitive and locomotive challenges. To this day, she still loves to swing at the playground.
It’s good for strollers as well. The playgrounds are also getting swings with a back and harness, ideal for children who need additional support to swing.
