Letting ICE access 80 million enrollees’ data weaponizes Medicaid
An agreement signed last week between the Department of Homeland Security and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or CMS, initially reported by the Associated Press, will grant ICE access to the personal data of the nearly 80 million enrollees in Medicaid so it can track down immigrants who aren’t legally living in the United States.
The immigration agency will use Medicaid data to identify and locate people it believes are in the country unlawfully.
