EMERYVILLE — A juvenile whale who beached itself several times since it was first spotted in the San Francisco Bay last week was euthanized Tuesday after a team from the Marine Mammal Center determined that it was sick and behaving abnormally, once again beaching itself during low tide.

A rare juvenile minke whale repeatedly stranded in the San Francisco Bay was euthanized as officials say the mammal had little chance for survival.

EMERYVILLE, Calif. - A beached whale captured the attention of onlookers in Emeryville on Tuesday. The Marine Mammal Center said the whale is likely a juvenile minke whale. While sightings of the species are rare in the Bay Area, they are not unprecedented.
