INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Several human remains and grave shafts have been found at the location of the Henry Street bridge project, the Indianapolis Department of Public Works said Monday afternoon.
The archaeology firm excavating the Henry Street right-of-way for a major redevelopment project has found more grave shafts than expected at the site that includes a 200-year-old former cemetery.
Construction on the Henry Street Bridge's east shore in Indianapolis resumes after human remains and grave shafts were found several months ago. The new bridge will integrate with the Cultural Trail.
