The Vikings have to get better in the offseason after poor finish, but they must avoid a couple of free agents

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold tops my annual list of top 100 free agents because of positional value. In a league of quarterback-starved teams, Darnold should command a mega deal if he hits the market,

If Sam Darnold reaches free agency before striking a new contract with the Minnesota Vikings, how many teams are going to be pursuit?

However, despite the fact that the Vikings seem to have passed on Darnold, NFL analyst Thor Nystrom says that they are in fact still considering a deal for the California native. It is expected to be another one-year deal worth about half of the league’s $40.2 million franchise tag number.

Head coach Kevin O'Connell addressed Darnold's future in light of not franchise-tagging him, which would not have benefited Minnesota if they kept him on the one-year, $40 million tag.

The Minnesota Vikings could have to smooth things over with their young star if Darnold remains in the mix at quarterback in 2025.
