A sandbar shark bit a man off the coast of Nantucket Sunday evening as he tried to release it after reeling it in.

“Sandbar sharks are not an aggressive species,” he added, noting that it typically takes the shark to be provoked by a fisherman. “It’s a wake-up call for fishermen.” The Nantucket Current first reported on the incident near Hoicks Hollow Sunday night.
