SAN JOSE — A teaching assistant at a local high school has been arrested on allegations he downloaded and shared child pornography from his South Bay home, police said. Sherman Cater III, 38, of Cupertino, was arrested Jan. 28 on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to San Jose police.

A San Jose man was arrested last week for allegedly trafficking a minor for sex, police said Tuesday. San Jose police said in a press release that detectives from the department's sexual assault investigations unit identified a potential human trafficking case after a patrol call for service on January 31 and referred the case to the department's trafficking task force.
