A mix of rain and snow starting overnight Friday and carrying into Saturday will leave roads slick and snowy by the morning commute, according to the National Weather Service.

The precipitation could be in the form of ice, according to the forecast. Freezing drizzle is expected to follow the thunderstorms Friday. The weather service gives Appleton a 23% chance of getting 0.1 inch of ice between Friday night and Sunday, and areas north of Appleton have a greater chance of getting more than a quarter inch of ice.

Temperatures will cool as a low pressure system moves east of the Continental Divide, bringing more unsettled weather to western Montana today.
