The Gifford Pinchot National Forest continues to hold public meetings while working on the draft environmental impact statement for a long-term Spirit Lake outflow solution near Mount St. Helens.

The U.S. Forest Service is reviewing ways to prevent Spirit Lake from overflowing, including updating or replacing an aging tunnel built to drain the lake after the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption.
