Max Scherzer’s Toronto Blue Jays tenure is already off to a sour start, as the AL East contenders placed the three-time Cy Young winner on the 15-day injured list Sunday. Scherzer, who turns 41 in July, left Saturday’s start early with a right lat injury. However, the Blue Jays cited right thumb inflammation when they moved him to the IL.
