An appeals court will not allow the Trump administration to end birthright citizenship for certain children of immigrants, in a ruling that could propel the issue to the Supreme Court.

A federal appeals court has denied a request by the Justice Department to narrow a Seattle judge's order blocking enforcement of President Donald Trump's executive action to restrict automatic birthright citizenship.

Eighteen states have sued the federal government over the executive order, showing the legal challenges the president will face.

The newspaper, citing six people familiar with the plans, reported that Trump is expected to issue an executive order as soon as this week to fire the members of the Postal Service's governing board and place the agency under the control of the Commerce Department.
