One night after local fans said a tear-filled goodbye (or hello?) to Luka the Laker, Stars fans were primed for their team to make one last run at Winnipeg, one final gasp in hopes of catching the team that has been the best in the West all season and stealing that No. 1 seed for the playoffs. It was more like one short wheeze.

Connor Hellebuyck stopped 24 shots for his single-season franchise record 45th win and NHL-leading eighth shutout, and the Winnipeg Jets moved closer to the top seed in the Western Conference with a 4-0 win over the second-place Dallas Stars on Thursday night.
