Today (February 18), Sotheby’s revealed Mark Hoppus’ rare Banksy piece is going up for auction. While the painting, Crude Oil (Vettriano), could earn upwards to $6 million. In a statement, Hoppus discussed the highly desired collectible.

Expected to sell for up to $6.3 million, Hoppus says proceeds of the sale will go towards charities aiding those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.

Hoppus said he was drawn to the subversion, humour and intelligence of Banksy's work and the similarities between 'skateboarding, punk rock and art'.
