A man taken into custody Monday evening during an immigration protest in Dallas is accused of assaulting a police officer, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit obtained by The Dallas Morning News.

One person is in police custody after a rally at the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in Dallas Monday night. Several North Texas-based immigration advocacy groups hosted what they said was a peaceful rally at the bridge after days of ongoing immigration raids and counterprotests in Los Angeles.

Police confirmed a protestor was charged with assault on a public servant and taking a weapon from a peace officer during Monday's protest.
