The combination of wind and dry air will lead to a fire weather watch for South Florida on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for Palm Beach County and a Red Flag Warning is in effect for Okeechobee and Treasure Coast counties from 11 a.m. until Thursday evening. Wildfires could easily start and be hard to control due to drought conditions, low humidity, and gusty winds.

Fire Weather Watch for all of Florida's East Coast

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for several Florida regions, including Treasure Coast, Palm Beaches and Melbourne. The National Weather Service (NWS) alert has been issued from Thursday, from morning through evening (11 AM to 7 PM).

An increased fire threat is looming over South Florida on Thursday, driven by low humidity, gusty winds, and dry fuel.

A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach County from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday. Wildfires could easily start and be hard to control due to drought conditions, low humidity and gusty winds from a relatively strong cold front.

On Friday at 1:30 p.m. a fire weather watch was issued by the NWS Newport/Morehead City NC valid for Saturday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. The watch is for Martin, Pitt, Greene, Duplin and Lenoir counties.

A fire weather watch is in effect across South Florida until 7 p.m. Thursday, after the passage of Wednesday night’s front left the air bone dry. It is also quite gusty, as wind gusts are coming in close to 25 mph.
