Memorial Day will not be a complete washout, as rain will start the day out, then we will see more clouds than sun on Monday. As we head later in the day, another round of showers could end the day, as they could become numerous at times.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - We’ve made it to the end of the week with the unofficial kickoff to summer just about upon us. Your Memorial Day Weekend looks really cool compared to normal and we have some late weekend showers and storms to track.

We'll have a wetter than normal trade wind pattern for the next couple of days, with more of the showers on the windward and mauka sections, but some of the showers will spread leeward at times.

Meteorologist Corey Simma has the latest forecast

Average temperatures in our region on May 23 are typically in the upper 70s. However, this Friday, temperatures will be much cooler, hovering around the mid to upper-60s. Overnight, temperatures will remain below average, falling to the mid-40s, whereas we would normally expect them to be in the upper 50s.

According to AAA, an estimated 1.3 million Michiganders are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home during the holiday weekend. For the millions of people expected to hit the roads, prices at the pump are expected to hit a four-year low with the national average for unleaded regular gas at $3.
