Happy Gilmore 2 has unsurprisingly given Netflix a major viewership victory. The sequel to Adam Sandler's beloved 1996 golf comedy began streaming on Friday. Fans old and new have flocked to watch the movie.

“Happy Gilmore 2” launched on the streamer on July 25. For the week of July 21 through 27, the film generated 46.7 million views, with a view defined as total hours watched divided by the total runtime. That makes this start the biggest U.S. opening weekend of all time for a Netflix film, as well as the best ever for one of Sandler’s movies.

The film, currently sitting in the No. 1 spot in Netflix’s top 10 movies, sees the return of actors like Julie Bowen (Virginia Venit), Christopher McDonald (Shooter McGavin) and Ben Stiller (Hal L.) from the first movie and is overflowing with callbacks to the first movie and celebrity cameos.
