The Super Bowl isn’t just the place for sports fans to feel some hometown pride or shame. Ever since Independence Day revamped this gaming event as a go-to space to promote major movies, studios have used the Big Game as a space to drop commercials for the biggest blockbusters of a given year.

Disney, Paramount and Universal are willing to pony up $7.5 million-$8 million for a 30-second trailer spot during this year's Super Bowl.

This year, Paramount will likely air spots for “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning,” which is supposed to mark Tom Cruise’s last hurrah playing a daredevil IMF agent, as well as trailers for “Smurfs” and the Jack Quaid thriller “Novocaine.”
