Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Georgia, was condemned on social media after tweeting that God defeated “evil” hours after Pope Francis’ death was announced. “Today there were major shifts in global leaderships. Evil is being defeated by the hand of God,” Greene tweeted late Monday morning.

In a post on her personal X account, the controversial congresswoman said, "Today there were major shifts in global leaderships. Evil is being defeated by the hand of God."

While it remains unclear if the post was specifically targeting Pope Francis, Greene has been a longtime critic of the Catholic church after leaving the religion years ago.
