MOSCOW/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, will visit Moscow this week for a new round of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the war in Ukraine, the White House said on Tuesday. Witkoff has previously held three long meetings with Putin on prospects for an end to the war in Ukraine.

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff plans to travel to Moscow again in the coming days to discuss ending the Russian war in Ukraine with President Vladimir Putin. Such a meeting was announced for later this week by White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt.

An explosion has taken place at a Russian ammunition depot east of Moscow, military authorities and local media are reporting. The blast in an ammunition warehouse took place at a defence facility in the western Vladimir region on Tuesday.

One of the largest ammunition depots of the Russian army detonated less than 100 km from Moscow. On April 22, explosions were heard at a military facility in the Vladimir region, followed by a fire. Evacuations were announced in nearby settlements.
