On Friday morning, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick posted a video on X with a simple message. “A New Video on the Lottery Saga,” it read, as he stood outside Winners Corner — a retailer which at one point had 47 Lottery terminals to help facilitate mobile purchases on the app Jackpocket.

In February the Texas Senate approved a bill that would ban the use of courier services that facilitate the sale of Texas Lottery tickets. Lawmakers said they were concerned — among other things — that minors were buying lottery tickets.

One of the largest lotto courier services, Lotto.com, pushed back against the Texas Lottery Commission (TLC) and its acting Deputy Executive Director, Sergio Rey. This came after the TLC decided to ban retail couriers.
