Parents and guardians voiced their concerns about school safety after the second shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas.

The event came a week after the April 15 shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High School, which wounded at least four students. Tracy Denard Haynes Jr. was able to bring a gun onto the campus after he was let in by another student through an “unsecured door,” according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

The alleged teen gunman in a 2024 shooting at Dallas ISD's Wilmer-Hutchins High School will appear in court on Tuesday. Ja'Kerian Rhodes-Ewing, who was 17 years old at the time of the shooting on April 12, 2024, will appear at 9 a.m. in a Dallas County courtroom for a plea hearing where he will plead guilty or not guilty.
