New field reporter joins organization
With the Texas Rangers’ formal announcement of the Rangers Sports Network on Wednesday came one additional bit of good news for fans.
New Texas Ranger Jake Burger will wear No. 21 this season. The number is for his daughter, Penelope, who was born with Down syndrome. Down syndrome is also known as trisomy 21, due to an extra copy of the 21st chromosome.
Jake Burger is one of the Texas Rangers’ offseason additions. He explained how his daughter influenced his switch from number from 36 to 21.
