The Kings could rightly point out that Domantas Sabonis, the team's best player, has missed nine of the last 16 games, but Sacramento is allowing more than 1.2 points per possession on the whole and not exactly lighting the world on fire with or without Sabonis in the lineup.

The Sacramento Kings are in a tough spot. With plenty of veteran talent, they should be in win-now mode, but they are the tenth seed in the Western Conference. On top of that, their 2025 first-round pick is owed to the Atlanta Hawks if it falls out of the top 12, so there is a very real incentive to avoid winning.

Sabonis, who has been out for a week with a sprained ankle, is set to return much sooner than expected. After injuring his ankle on March 17th in a win versus the Memphis Grizzlies, the Kings dropped two of their last three games.
