Conan O’Brien is hosting the Oscars for the first time, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is tapping a number of past winners to present — and has teased some sort of “unexpected” surprise.

Best Animated Short goes to In the Shadow of the Cypress. In the Shadow of the Cypress is a 2023 Iranian animated short film directed by Hossein Molayemi and Shirin Sohani. This 20-minute, dialogue-free narrative centers on a former ship captain suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who lives with his daughter in an isolated seaside home.

The list of screen talents lined up to present awards includes a handful of Oscar winners from previous years, including Halle Berry (“Monster’s Ball”), Robert Downey Jr. (“Oppenheimer”), Whoopi Goldberg (“Ghost”), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”), and two-time victor Emma Stone (“La La Land,” “Poor Things”).

It will mark the first time the former late-night talk show host will emcee the Oscars, though he’s hosted other award shows like the Emmy Awards in 2002 and 2006.

Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Zoe Saldaña and Rachel Zegler are set to present at the 97th Oscars. Hosted by Conan O’Brien, “The Oscars” will air live on ABC and stream live on Hulu on Sunday,
