The Huntington Beach City Council with the lead coming from P City Mayor Greg Meister has endorsed the formation of a charter cities alliance in the state.

Huntington Beach was passed over for San Clemente to host the surfing competition, while Long Beach will host beach volleyball.

The new group, pushing for more local control, would eye many of the same legal fights Huntington Beach has waged against the state over the past couple years.
