A new crab trap regulation will take effect next Thursday to protect whales off the coast of Northern California.

Commercial fishing for Dungeness crab ends next week in the Bay Area, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said.

All open Fishing Zones remain under a Fleet Advisory for both the commercial and recreational Dungeness crab fisheries.
